Account information. When you register, we collect your name, email address, and password (stored as a salted hash, never in plain text). If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile image from Google.
Profile and academic information. To personalize your plan, we collect information you choose to provide, which may include your grade level, GPA and test scores, target colleges, extracurricular activities, volunteer hours, awards, internships, summer plans, and essay drafts.
AI advisor and essay coach content. Messages you send to the AI advisor or submit for essay feedback are processed to generate a response and, where relevant, stored so the advisor can maintain context across conversations.
Billing information. If you subscribe to a paid plan, payment is processed by Stripe. We do not store your full card number — Stripe provides us with limited billing metadata (such as subscription status and a customer identifier) to manage your account.
Usage and device information. We automatically collect information about how you use the Service, including pages visited, features used, timestamps, browser type, and device identifiers, via privacy-conscious analytics (Vercel Analytics).
Communications. If you contact us for support or submit feedback, we collect the content of your message and your email address to respond.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your academic or essay content to train third-party AI models beyond what is necessary to generate your requested response.
We share information only as needed to operate the Service, with the following categories of service providers, each bound by contractual confidentiality and data-protection obligations:
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect the rights and safety of MyJourneyIQ or our users, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case we will notify you before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
The Service allows you to optionally generate a shareable link to a read-only view of your profile or plan (for example, to share with a parent or counselor). Anyone with that link can view the associated content. You can revoke a shared link at any time from your account settings.
We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal information within a reasonable period, except where retention is required to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements.
MyJourneyIQ is intended for high-school-aged students and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn we have collected information from a child under 13 without verifiable parental consent, we will delete it. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at the email below.
We use industry-standard safeguards to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), password hashing, and access controls limiting who can view your data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Our servers and service providers may be located in the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, you understand that your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or through a notice on the Service. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
